Pair of Ming-Style Horseshoe-Back Chairs
A distinguished pair of horseshoe-back armchairs crafted in the traditional Ming dynasty style, often referred to as "Official's Hat Chairs". Made from richly polished hardwood with a lustrous reddish-brown finish, the chairs feature a single, continuous crest rail that curves gracefully around the back and terminates in scroll ends. The back splat is detailed with carved decorative motifs, including stylized Chinese symbols and a central medallion. The front legs terminate in horse-hoof feet, with side and back stretchers reinforcing the robust frame. These chairs reflect refined proportions, elegant curvature, and classical simplicity.
