Chinese Hardwood Step-Form Display Unit with Carved Cabinets
An architecturally striking three-part stepped display unit in dark polished hardwood, featuring an interconnected "bridge" across the top. Each side includes a dynamic arrangement of interlocking open cubes for displaying vases, figures, and collectibles. Integrated among the shelving are four carved cabinet doors (two on each side) with traditional "shou" (longevity) medallions surrounded by ornate floral scrollwork. The upper bridge section showcases a pierced carving of fish among aquatic plants, symbolizing abundance and harmony. This piece combines symmetry with visual flow, using step forms and negative space to evoke classic Chinese altar shelf geometry, reinterpreted with modern proportions.
