Chinese painted wooden tripod stool

An unusual tri-lobed low table, lacquered in black with hand-painted polychrome decoration. The tabletop features a central circular medallion of scrolling foliage and lotus blossoms, accented with red and green florals and white inlays. The outer border is decorated with a continuous geometric Greek key pattern. The apron is painted with scrolling peonies and foliage, and the cabriole legs are embellished with bamboo leaf motifs. The underside reveals a well-carved frame in a corresponding tri-lobed shape.
